Your Massage is Over. How Do You Feel?

After your massage is completed, the therapist will leave the room and allow you time to dress in privacy. You should rest for a few seconds because you may feel dizzy after receiving a massage. Relax and take your time getting up. Your therapist may tell you to drink a lot of water to hydrate your body after your massage. Drinking water after a massage will help your body get rid of toxins that were flushed out of the muscles. You will be expected to pay immediately after a massage. Check the tipping policy in your area. Ask around; find out whether others tip their massage therapists. If you do tip, it should be between 10 to 20 percent. If you are getting massage in a doctor’s office or another environment where you are unsure whether a tip may be appropriate, just ask your therapist and they'll tell you what's common practice.

After your massage, you should have a good range of motion in your muscles. You will feel relaxed and you will be in a great mood. These are short-term. Regular massages should not take the place of regular physical exercise. A good diet, regular exercise and proper rest are great ways to relieve stress and help with longterm effects.

What does massage therapy do for you? It relaxes the body, reduces muscle tension and relieves minor pains. You should not expect a massage to cure severe pain or heal an illness. You should see your doctor about acute pain or if you are sick. Massage therapy is considered safe and has been used for thousands of years. Massage decreased in popularity with the discovery of pain medications and when massage therapy began being used as a front for sexual services. Today, therapeutic massage has grown in popularity as programs for training therapists were set up and states arranged for licenses and accreditation.

You will feel much more relaxed after your massage if you are comfortable with your massage therapist. Ask about their credentials and feel free to tell the therapist what you like or what you are uncomfortable with.

A massage is a short-term relaxation technique. You can help your body by practicing good health care between your massage appointments. Eat a healthy diet with plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. Stay away from fatty meat and fried foods. Regular exercise is essential for good health. Exercise will help you relieve tension and reduce stress. You can start exercising with just a simple walk around the block. You should be able to work up to 30 minutes of physical exercise each day. You will be pleasantly surprised by the way you feel after you begin an exercise routine. A little exercise is better than no exercise at all.

Make sure you are getting the right amount of rest. This will help your body recover from the day and renew your energy for the day ahead. Practice deep breathing techniques to give your body the oxygen it needs. A therapeutic massage is a great way for you to relax, but do not expect it to take the place of good nutrition, proper rest, and regular physical exercise.
